Thick as Thieves will be an animated short musical tribute to the AJ Raffles stories by EW Hornung

        About the Stories

A.J. Raffles, The Gentleman Thief Series is a series of short stories chronicling the misadventures of AJ Raffles, a gentleman cricketer by day, and amateur cracksman by night. AJ Raffles is considered to be a complete inversion of Sherlock Holmes. Incidentally, E.W. Hornung, the author of the Raffles stories, is also the brother-in-law of Arthur Conan Doyle (the author of the Holmes stories.) Instead of solving crimes, Raffles commits them with the aid of his Watson-like sidekick, Bunny.

The stories have been a delight to generations of crime and mystery enthusiasts since they

appeared the Strand in the 1890s. The first time Raffles was ever translated to film was in the year 1917, with John Barrymore playing the title character.

About the Project

"Thick as Thieves" will be an animated short musical tribute to these beloved stories by E.W. Hornung. The proposed song, "Thick as Thieves" by the group Kasabian, could have been written for the two main characters. The video will cover the entirety of the Raffles stories, using "clips" of the stories in beat with the music to show the main arc. It begins with Bunny at the Albany starting a new life as Raffles' partner in crime, and ends with Raffles’ death at Spion Kop. Bunny then returns to England as a crippled war veteran.
